
Ken is one of the founders of Groundworks. He collaborates with mission minded organizations, and networks globally to create change in our world, while living true to his social mission. Ken’s passion is to steward the dreams of emerging leaders, pioneers, and creative’s, and enjoys seeing dreams realized. He believes that life is enhanced through quality relationships, and obsesses over seeing transformation realized in the earth. Ken has worked in both the corporate for-profit and the non-profit sector with over 25 years of experience. He uses that experience to bridge those two sectors, often working with social innovators and entrepreneurs to find solutions to systemic issues while facilitating opportunities for ideas to take flight. He has been re-imagining the urban landscape where he lives while living and working with neighbors to see their neighborhood transformed. He works with community leaders to catalyze change in New Haven Ct. He and his wife, Lori have been married for 23 years, and have four children.
Slate Ballard desires to stimulate economic and community development through tapping the power of collective intelligence and collaborative creativity. Slate also has a desire to see cities utilize their cultural and creative resources as a means of economic and community development. Slate has been a small business owner for the past four years and is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. While at Southern Slate studied organizational behavior. Specifically, he researches areas such as: organizational creativity, culture, organizational learning, creative economies, social innovation, and nonprofit innovation.
