New Haven resident since 1993. Arrived with a doctorate in anthropology from the City University of New York. Taught at Southern Connecticut State University and since then worked at the Human Relations Area Files at Yale University. Involved in faith-based community organizing with Elm City Congregations Organized. Helped to organize youth sports leagues and math and computer workshops. Work in the community deepened my faith and went to Yale Divinity School to better understand and articulate that faith. Now back at work at HRAF while waiting for a call to parish ministry. Through my denomination, the United Church of Christ, I have been involved in the environmental movement and global ministries. Have been to China three times in the last four years to teach oral English to high school English teachers in a program run by an Chinese-Christian non-governmental organization. Helped to organize a region-wide conference, “Partnering with a Green God: Calling People of Faith to Environmental Ministries” held in May, 2011. Presently profoundly moved by the Occupy Wall Street/New Haven movement and recognize the importance of a truly free public space as a necessary compliment to the virtual space we occupy on the internet and in social media. My contribution to this New Public is to work on a local carbon credit exchange system which will facilitate and bring attention to the need to change fundamental behavior around fossil fuel usage. My wife is doctor at Yale New Haven/VA, West Haven and one child just finished university and another beginning.
